Most health plans have coverage for the services we offer, please look into your plan for details. We offer directly bill to 3rd party extended health plans if your plan allows it. In order to do so, we need all your insurance information emailed to us 2 business days prior to the appointment. If your plan qualifies, you will only be responsible for the portion that is not covered by your plan.
Obtaining a referral – If your health plan requires a referral for any of our services, a medical doctor or a nurse practitioner referral is sufficient! If you have a UVSS undergrad or GSS grad student plan, the only referral required is for UVSS students to access RMT massage. Students can make an appointment on campus at the UVic Health & Wellness Centre. Referrals can also be obtained online through virtual appointments using the Telus Health app (or other health portals you may currently be using), visiting a walk-in clinic or through an appointment with your family doctor.
UVic undergraduate plan – The default enhanced plan covers approximately70% per visit for each practitioner up to $300 for each service per school year (Sept.-Aug.). There is no yearly deductible. Medical doctor or nurse practitioner referrals are only required to access your health plan for RMT massage therapy. We commonly get referrals for back/neck pain, headaches, stress, anxiety, depression, sports/overuse injuries and many other musculoskeletal and soft tissue disorders.
Graduate plan – we bill your plan directly! Services cost approximately $10. A one-time per year $10 deductible applies the first time you use your plan every year. Dr. referrals are NOT required to access any of our services! The dietitian is now covered by your plan! The grad plan covers $250 for each service per calendar year (Jan – Dec).
For plans that do not allow direct billing, fees are paid at the time of treatment; a receipt is issued to you which you then submit to your plan for reimbursement. Most extended health plans have coverage for massage therapy, chiropractic, Naturopathy, dietitian counseling and acupuncture. Please look into your specific plan for details.
There is a medical clinic on the UVic campus that may provide referrals. This clinic is no longer a walk in clinic and appointments must be made in advance. Same day appointments may be available. Visit the clinic in person or call 250-721-8492.
We happily accept patients from the greater Victoria area. We are UVic’s complimentary healthcare clinic. Our approach is comprehensive; we work closely with each other to help restore our clients back to optimal health. Our clinicians deal with a wide range of symptoms including: muscular dysfunction, joint pathology, gastrointestinal problems, lack of energy, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. We use techniques such as diet changes, massage, joint manipulation, eastern techniques like needling and others to combat these common conditions.
